A Brief History

‘Ohoka Stars In Their Eyes’ had its inaugural show in 1995
when a small group of local people gathered at the Ohoka Hall for a night of
musical entertainment. As demand and popularity grew it became necessary to
change venue initially to the Clarkville Hall and then in 2007 the Kaiapoi Borough
School Hall which is a superb venue and holds up to approximately 380 people.

We aim to have 8 or 9 acts and each act is lip-synced, acted or danced depending
on the acts expertise but perfect imitation is not required!!! Any amount of
artistic license is allowed and encouraged. Examples and winners of previous years
are: Happy Feet, Shrek, 10CC, Cab Calloway, Boney M, Kiss to name a few. On
the night the audience vote and cups and prizes are awarded to first, second and
third. It is a brilliantly entertaining night with many saying it is the best night out all
year! It has become a profitable fundraiser for the school so I hope you are able to
join in the fun, enter an act or come and see what it is all about.
